St. Louis County was named among the 2021 Overall County Government Experience Winners by the Center for Digital Government. This award recognizes the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that are improving the experience of government and pushing the boundaries of how resident services are delivered.
“St. Louis County has focused on ways to expand our digital services to further assist residents and show what modern and responsive government looks like,” County Executive Dr. Sam Page said in a press statement. “It’s wonderful to see the IT department’s focus on providing excellent customer service be recognized and rewarded.”
The IT department began modernizing online services for residents about 18 months ago, rebuilding the county’s website with a focus on making it mobile-friendly and easier to navigate. Other digital upgrades include the additions of:
• Artificial intelligence for the website’s chatbot and search functions.
• In-person queue management system that allows residents to view their place in line.
• Real-time digital signage in the lobbies of our government buildings to direct residents to the services they need.
The county also received the 2021 WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development, which is a global competition for website development. The WebAward competition is the premier award recognition program for web developers.
“Typically, this type of success is reserved for teams with a dozen or more people and a million dollars in the budget. St. Louis County’s small but mighty team consists of five people and accomplished a great deal in a cost-effective and responsible way,” Director of Information Technology Charles Henderson said. “I’m incredibly proud of my team.”
